Fundu Lagoon Pemba

If you want the tropical paradise of Zanzibar,

but without the people, you have found your new holiday destination: Fundu lagoon. The lodge is situated on Pemba Island, the sister island to Zanzibar lying across the Pemba Channel to the north. This island is a true hidaway, a spice paradise and one of worlds best diving places. The lodge is situated on a remote and beautiful beach on the south west side of the island and is only accessible by boat or by short flight from Zanzibar. The Accommodation

There are 16 makuti thatched tented bungalows and suites on hardwood, stilted decks,

all very spacious and tentatively furnitured, ensuite bathrooms and all with stunning views over the Indian Ocean. The standard rooms have twin or double beds, mosquito nets, fans, inside and outside sitting areas. The suites have a private plunge pool and a sundeck. The superior suites have a large, private pool, private terraces and recreation areas, walk-in showers, and a lounge. The lodge has 3 bars, an excellent restaurant serving outstanding international dishes, a beautiful infinity pool and a spa with aroma therapy massage treatment.

The peaceful Yoga platform overlooks the ocean. There is a satellite TV room, a games balco

ny and a boutique. Meals at Fundu Lagoon are served in the main dining area at the jetty bar around the pool or in a traditional “kikapu” picnic basket. Beach braai's are a regular thing and Swahili cuisine and music provide a distinctly Pemban experience on the jetty. Private beach dining can also be arranged.

 

Things to do

The waters around Pemba are among the richest and most exciting

in the world.  Walls of pristine coral stretching for mile upon mile are home to a vast range of marine life and provide some of the most exhilarating drift diving in East Africa.  Pemba is one of the top dive sites in the world and the isolated location is a best-kept secret. The resort has a fully equipped dive centre offering a fleet of boats and the marine life is exciting even when snorkeling.  The thirty foot catamaran “Solkattan” is exclusively available for charters. Stop off to snorkel the un-spoilt reefs and drop-offs where you might see turtles grazing and a vivid array for small reef fish.
